It's December And I'm Reading a book set in Summer.

Yes, that's right. I am currently reading The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares. I found this book the usual way. My usual way, if you know what and how that is. ;-)


Even though I am only on the first few chapters of the book, it makes me miss summer. But I love the rainy, cold days too. I'm excited to find out what will happen. I hope I will not get side-tracked by all the activities this season. Note to self:  I should finish reading before Christmas Day.

         I really like this story because it has so much to tell you in just one book. I learned lots of things which in some way, I have all though and felt about before but I just couldn't put them into words.

         The story teaches us not to be too worldly and not to give importance on appearances. And also not to be impulsive.

         We all have our wants and desires in our life and we must plan carefully and pray for them to unfold well. The story taught me that even though a person lives in a beautiful, serene, big place, it cannot shield or protect the person who lived in them. Just like Woodrow, I have learned a beautiful place can't shelter you from hurt any more than a shack can.

         It was also in this book that I've first encountered lots of funny stories and jokes. It was a good way to soften the mood.

         A part of me still longs for Woodrow to find out what really happened to his mom.

finding the alternate universe

Researching.
That is what I am doing at this time. Primarily because I want to give this blog my best. When it comes to books, I always had one motto. " Value ones life." I have read this in a book somewhere before and it just stuck. When you value a book, you learn not only the story being told. You also live in an alternate life, your alternate life. It is a life, your life. And you should value it.

That is why I am researching on the how tos, the path, the things I will encounter if I intend to write this blog for a long time. I need to prepare. And I do want to continue writing about my alternate universe, my life.

the backstory

The idea for this blog came when we moved to a new house after almost 22 years. Which means that we are leaving the house that I have called home ever since I was born. It was during the packing period that I have realized how many books I have. And what is interesting, to me, is that 99.9% of my books are bought second-hand in thrift book shops. And I am proud of this. Looking at so many books on my new room floor and some in boxes, I felt happy over my book choices.

This is the first book that I have bought in a real bookstore with my own money. And I never regretted a single peso with this purchase. 

I am now a self-acclaimed member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I know it sounds too nerdy and out of this world. I know you’d love to be part of this club. Yes, it is a book. I will not spoil the fun. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
